The Best Game to Play During Quarantine (2021)

It’s been more than a year since we have all been in quarantine and at times it can get stale. Here is one of the best games to pass your time with.

While stuck inside avoiding COVID-19 you may find yourself bored a lot. With nothing new to do from time to time, it gets pretty routine sitting in your room every day. You probably have done plenty of things to stave off your boredom. Despite this, you seemingly have nothing to do. However, I have come to review a game for you to play during quarantine. Terraria is a game by Re-Logic and it has been up for a while now. I would recommend revisiting Terraria if you had once played it since it has been updated quite recently.

Terraria: A Game of Exploration

Terraria allows players to explore freely, players can challenge difficult bosses and get amazing awards, and not to mention players can do all of this with friends thanks to the multiplayer option.

In Terraria, exploration is a huge part of the game. There are many unique and diverse places with many treasures and dangers. Nix, a game reviewer, has reviewed Terraria and his experience with it; according to Nix, “Terraria requires that you explore, and encourages exploration by lacing its underground with treasures” (Nix). The undergrounds are littered with hidden treasures from arrows hidden in pots to amazing accessories that grant the player useful abilities.

According to Winkie [1], “I love knowing that all those tantalizing secrets are buried into the dark corners of the sandbox as soon as I enter—it makes this game feel truly bottomless” (Winkie). The rewards players get for journeying into the extremely hostile caves are almost addicting. With so much stuff to explore players would never get tired of Terraria.

The combat in Terraria is uncontested. The bizarre weapons of Terraria are there to shred the player’s enemies to pieces; no monster or bosses would be able to take any player on. From personal experience, the “Meowmere” is a giant sword that shoots exploding rainbow cats. Players can shoot them up into the sky and they come back down to do massive damage. players wouldn’t find that weapon in any other game.

According to Coles [2], he says, “You could be a summoner that calls on aliens to do your bidding, or you could be a magician that summons otherworldly portals to open fire on your prey, or you could just get a gun that shoots bees” (Coles). These are just some of the hundreds of weapons mentioned. There are so many weapons to choose from and so many to fit all sorts of playstyles. There wouldn’t be a combat situation a well-equipped player would lose.

Terraria Multiplayer

Multiplayer options in any game are quite important; after all, some games are more enjoyable with friends, especially during quarantine. I believe that having friends come along on a player’s adventure can be fun, helpful, but also quite challenging. According to stridentgamer.com [3], “Terraria enables large co-op or playing PvP games for those who are interested in it, that means you have the choice of playing the way you want” (StridentGamer).

With the limit of 8 players per world, they can do some incredible things, whether that would be creating something huge together, or having a 4v4 against each other. There were some times where a boss was too challenging to conquer by myself, so I had invited my sisters to join me for a session. We soon reaped the hefty rewards from our boss fight and started to build a treasure room to keep all our riches. One of the treasures was a mask of the very boss we had slain which my sister had worn during our entire playthrough. This game has kept me quite entertained during quarantine and I hope It helps some of you out.
