On a cold January night, Sharon Lemke heads outside to see a lunar eclipse when she notices something odd at the house behind her backyard. Through her neighbor’s kitchen window, she sees what appears to be a little girl washing dishes late at night. But the Fleming family doesn’t have a child that age, and even if they did, why would she be doing housework at this late hour?

It would be easy for Sharon to just let this go, but when eighteen-year-old Niki, a former foster child, comes to live with Sharon, she notices suspicious activity at the Flemings’ house as well. When calling social services doesn’t result in swift action, the two decide to investigate on their own.

Our Thoughts on the Book

NameOne word to describe your opinion. How was the book for you?Which character did you like the most? At what point did you start getting more interested?Rating
Riddhi BhattacharyaAstoundingIt was a spectacular read and I finished it in about 2 days! There were moments in the book where I just couldn’t put it down due to the thrill and style of writing that McQuestion had adopted. Although the ending was quite expected and predictable since the start, the thrill of the book kept me hooked on!I guess a blend of the adventurous streak of Niki and the innocence of “The Moonlight Child”!From the third chapter down – less than 5% through with the book I guess!5/5
Nikhita MakamRivetingI loved the book it was amazing!Nikita – part from having similar names, she seems like a great person and I really like her ideals.Well I was invested right from the start :))4/5

Sarim Hamid Unique At first, I thought this was some form of a ghost story based on the blurb of the book, even so to the point where I thought I had not gotten the right book! Once I had cleared the first chapter and started the second chapter, my interest in the book started to peak. The book was very well written and I enjoyed Nikita’s character a lot!I like Nikita’s character the most, simply because I enjoyed reading her perspective and learning about her past and the things she had to endure!Right after I had finished the second chapter, I was hooked!5/5
Ayush AnandGripping The author has written a captivating, intense, intriguing and memorable novel. The author describes her dramatic characters as complex and complicated. There are some deep dangerous secrets, threats, consequences and problems. I am into mystery books so yeah this book hooked me up till the end.Sharon – she reminds me when I lived in a different house, and I had wonderful neighbors. My neighbors knew everything that was going on in our house, and no one told them. At times I wondered if they were psychic! After Sharon realizes that something is wrong in her neighborhood.5/5
